Residents and staff members at Lanercost House care home in Carlisle were hosting a baking bread workshop and had a tasting session.
This was the aid of National Real Bread Week, launched by the Real Bread Campaign in 2009. This is the annual, international celebration of real bread and the people who make it. Each year, the campaign encourages bakeries, baking schools, and households in its support network around the world to organize, hold classes, feasts, and other events and activities.
Jean, the resident in the Home, said `the smell of fresh homemade bread reminded me of my past job in the bakery, it was lovely to taste just-baked bread with butter and jam`.
